I’m always trying to change up my breakfast routine before work, so I decided to try this recipe. I usually go for a berry and banana combo in my smoothies, but this matcha smoothie is a game changer. As soon as I finished it, I was already making plans on how to incorporate this smoothie into my everyday life. It’s just that good.
And like any smoothie, it’s super simple to make. Luckily, this recipe from Loving It Vegan called for frozen bananas, because I have two bagfuls of frozen bananas in my freezer just waiting to be used. I always end up buying way more bananas than I need — especially when bananas are on sale on Amazon Prime Now for a penny (seriously, they do this — and it’s amazing). When I make a typical smoothie, I use frozen berries and a fresh banana, so I’m beyond excited (can’t you tell?) that this recipe called for frozen bananas.
To get started, I put one teaspoon of matcha (I buy this kind of matcha from Amazon) 1/2 cup of coconut milk and a handful of spinach in my blender, and blended until the ingredients are completely mixed. Then I added a 6-ounce container of cut mango (you can substitute a half a mango instead) and one frozen banana and blended well.
And that’s all, folks. Super simple, super tasty, super healthy. I will be consuming this for most of my before-work breakfasts from now on.
Matcha Green Tea Smoothie
1/2 mango (or one 6-oz container sliced)
1 handful spinach
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup coconut milk
1 teaspoon matcha
- Put one handful of spinach, one teaspoon matcha and 1/2 cup coconut in a blender. Blend until mixture is completely blended.
- Add mango and banana, and blend until mixture is creamy and smooth.
